Mastering: The Art of Mastering

At Masterwork making recordings sound better is our foremost goal. Critical evaluations can be made in our finely tuned mastering rooms. Multiple monitors and both digital and analog processing equipment aid us in testing the product over many different systems, powerful large monitors to home hi-fi stereos and finally the small boom box or kitchen radio. Most importantly an experienced mastering engineer provides a fresh ear and will use the above mentioned tools and tests to shape the final product to compete in its specific market.

Mastering: Textbook Definition

Mastering, a form of audio post-production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master); the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). Currently, the most common format choice is a digital master, in various formats.
